The electoral district of Darling Range extends from the towns of Chidlow,
Mount Helena and Sawyers Valley in the north, south along the Mundaring
Weir and down the Darling Scarp, including the towns of Pickering
Brook, Karagullen and Roleystone, to incorporate the Clifton Hills, parts of
Kelmscott and the outer parts of Mount Nasura and Forestdale and the
entire Shire of Serpentine-Jarrahdale.
Darling Range is a new electorate, created in the 2007 Electoral
Distribution as part of the one vote, one value legislation. Darling
Range took 50% of its electors from the 2003 district boundaries
of Serpentine-Jarrahdale and 18% from Armadale. A further 17% of the
districts voters come from within the old boundaries of the district of
Swan Hills and 15% from the former Darling Range.
The district is the largest in the metropolitan area, covering an area of
1,990 km2. More than 22,000 voters call Darling Range home, with the
largest towns being the Hills orchard town of Roleystone and the fast
growing outer-metropolitan suburb of Byford.
